Umar, said the FCT Administration is making a lot of sacrifices and effort to ensure that youths are empowered and taken off the streets completely. According to Hajiya Umar, "the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, is not relenting in his effort to see that every youth in the Federal Capital Territory is selfreliant." In her words, 'Because of the burden to see youths of the FCT engage in worthwhile ventures, no sooner had the Minister resumed office than he encouraged us to see that the starter packs and cash are disbursed to beneficiaries promptly.'

She further advised the beneficiaries not to be selfish with their newly acquired knowledge and skills but should share it with others in their various communities. 'Be generous and magnanimous to share what you have learnt with your friends; by so doing, you will be supporting government's effort in curbing all forms of youths restiveness', she said. Earlier, the Director, Youth Development Department, Social Development Secretariat, Hajiya Hajarat Alayande, said "the skills acquisition which was held at the Youth Centre, Nyanya and covered youths from the six Area Councils of the FCT, lasted for five weeks and every participants were lodged at the centre and were well taken care of".

Alayande said 'Today's event marks the fulfilment of the Administration's promise to empower the youths after their training; the Administration has kept to that promise by giving out the starter packs to them today". The Director, also appreciated the Acting Secretary, Hajiya Sefiya Umar, for her immense support, appealing to her not to relent in her good work of seeing that the Secretariat carries out its statutory mandates through her various Departments.

Hajia Alayande used the occasion to intimate the youths on the recently flagged off campaign against drug abuse at the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp, Kubwa which, according to her, aims at keeping the youths off drugs and hard substances completely. Some of the beneficiaries said they were immensely grateful to the Youth Department as well as the FCT Administration for putting up the skills acquisition training that has enabled them learn the skills they currently have thus empowering them to become selfreliant.
