Director visits Ila College of Health Technology

The Director, Department of Higher Education, Mr Ezekiel Gimba has undertaken a familiarization visit to Ila College of Health Technology Kuje, Abuja. The Director was represented by three Deputy Directors, Mr Abedoh Ahmed Yakubu (Head of Universities Division), Mr. Nonyelu Gilbert N. (Head of Polytechnic and Monotechnic Division) and Mr Akinfolajimi O.O. (Head of Colleges of Education Division). The visit was as a result of the school's request seeking for the consent/permission for registration/establishment of the college.

The Provost of the College Malam Muhammed Yakubu Kaima who was on ground to receive the guests, took them on an inspection tour of the facilities which included; laboratories, lecture halls, borehole, well, standby generator, hostels for both male and female students. The college also has a clinic which is an added advantage for the students' practicals.

The Provost who briefed the team in his office, said that the College has registered with the Examination/Regulatory bodies: Community Health Practitioner Registration Board of Nigeria, Health Record Officers Registration Board of Nigeria and Environmental Heath Officers Registration of Nigeria. Malam Kaima also said that currently the College runs four courses which include; Community Health Extension Workers (CHEW/JECHEW), Environmental Health programme (Technical/Assistant), Health Information Management and Medical Laboratory. The school runs Diploma and Certificate Courses.

The team leader, Mr Abedoh who was impressed with the development, congratulated the effort of the founder for having such a school in the FCT. He said that education is the bedrock of the society and the Minister of the Federal Capital Administration, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello needs such visionary people who can invest in Education. Mr Abedoh promised to convey the message to his boss who will also communicate to the Minister of FCT for appropriate action through the Secretary for Education.

Minister of State, FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, made the revelation during flag- off of the first round of 2020 National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) at Dutse Makaranta, Bwari Area Council, last week.

Director, FHIS, Dr. Ahmed Danfulani, who broke news of the enrolment exclusively to Abuja Digest Weekly, disclosed further that the retirees have filled the required forms and obtained approval from the agency.
