Deputy Senate President Omo-Agege extols Senate President leadership role at 61
• Commends his commitment to Next Level Agenda

27th Jan, 2020 | By Darlington Omotoso | ||

Against the backdrop of result-oriented politics, interspersed, as it were, with verifiable achievements, Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has congratulated the Senate President Ahmad Lawan at 61, identifying "lifelong commitment to populist cause and progressive ideology" as the sustaining power behind the latter's successful political career.

His allusion to "progressive ideology" translates to the positive developments in the ongoing democratic dispensation which the restoration of good working relationship between the Executive and the 9th National Assembly as well as the attendant impactful dividends typifies. As I leave the Deputy Senate President's logical encomium on the National Assembly's chief executive in the court of public opinion, its tacit interpretation finds meaningful expression in the second paragraph of the congratulatory message where he lauded the Senate President ''for leading the 9th Senate in the direction of the APC-led Next Level Agenda."

In the euphoria of the birthday event, Omo-Agege proceeded to prayerfully wish the Senate President sustainable divine mercies and leadership wisdom which he euphemistically expressed in Hausa and English languages to drive home the impactful religious undertone of his supplications. His words: "Dan Masanin Bade, Garkuwam Daliban Gamui, may Almighty Allah continue to sustain you with an abundance of divine mercies and leadership wisdom." For the umpteenth time, the consistency of a dogged apostle of President Buhari's Next Level Agenda played out in the last paragraph of the message when the Deputy President quipped: "Once again, let me wish you a very happy birthday and Allah's blessings as you lead the 9th Senate towards the actualization of the Next Level Agenda of the All Progressives Congress and the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Administration."

Beneath the façade of the goodwill message which has found expression in the press statement heralding the Senate President's birthday, at 61, it is instructive to note that the Deputy Senate President's rhetoric portrays the latter as one who understudies his co-driver of the Senate leadership, hence the outpouring of choice but true accolades that stand to boost and buoy the Senate President's impetus to improve in service delivery in our democratic dispensation.

To this extent, all well-meaning Nigerians should align their voices with the Deputy Senate President's in saying to the Senate President: "May the Lord locate you with His sustainable wisdom, good health, divine mercies and strength in your ever-challenging work of service delivery to our fatherland Nigeria."
