Team FCT dusts all to zoom into National Sports Festival

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) sports family is in a jubilant mood as four of its five teams that participated in the North Central zonal qualifiers have made it to the National Sports Festival, tagged Edo 2020. In football the defending champions, FCT male football team, picked the only slot from the North Central zone. Team FCT in football achieved the feat after beating Kogi State football team in their first group A match by 6 goals to 1.

The 2018 gold medalists walked over Niger State football team who stayed away from the match, hence handing FCT the wins. With the two wins, FCT football team has booked a ticket to the 20th National Sports Festival.

In male and female cricket tussles, Team FCT also qualified while the male handball team also booked a ticket to Edo. It is expected that the FCT beach volleyball team will also book a ticket. Delighted with the overall achievements of Team FCT so far, Director of Sports, FCT, Mrs. Dilichukwu Onyedinma thanked the players for keeping to their promise by booking the tickets.

The Director commended the players and officials for making the FCT proud, but quickly reminded them to keep the flag up until gold medals are won in Edo 2020. She added that on return from Ilorin, the venue of the qualifiers, the players will move straight to camp in Abuja to intensify preparations ahead of the National Sports Festival.

Minister of State, FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, made the revelation during flag- off of the first round of 2020 National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) at Dutse Makaranta, Bwari Area Council, last week.

Country Director of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Mr. Woochan Chang has said the Nigeria-Korea Model School, Abuja should expand its admission quota to include children from poor and vulnerable.

Chairman, FCTA Traffic Management Team, Comrade Ikharo Attah who led the exercise explained that the removal of the illegal structures became necessary due to complaints from contractors handling the road expansion

Director, FHIS, Dr. Ahmed Danfulani, who broke news of the enrolment exclusively to Abuja Digest Weekly, disclosed further that the retirees have filled the required forms and obtained approval from the agency.
