To instill the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability among young students, the Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT UBEB), in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has inaugurated Integrity Clubs in 10 selected public Junior Secondary Schools in the FCT.

The launch, which took place at the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Digital Resource Centre, Abuja, was attended by key stakeholders and development partners.

The initiative is aimed at shaping the moral character of students; ensuring they grow into responsible citizens with zero tolerance for corruption.

Welcoming guests to the occasion, the Acting Executive Chairman of FCT UBEB, Dr. Alhassan Sule, lauded the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, for his leadership qualities and foresight in establishing the Integrity Clubs.

Sule described the initiative as a way of “immunizing children against corruption” and pledged to institutionalize the clubs in more FCT schools.

He emphasized that education is a powerful tool against corruption and expressed confidence that the clubs will inspire students to reject corrupt practices; fostering a future generation of responsible leaders.

Representing EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, Director of Public Affairs at EFCC, expressed delight at the initiative.

He highlighted that the Integrity Clubs would serve as platforms for enlightenment, character building, and empowerment; encouraging students to uphold values such as honesty, diligence, and courage.

Olukoyede stressed that corruption threatens national development and must be confronted collectively.

He urged all stakeholders to support the campaign against corruption and encouraged students to remain committed to the club’s principles; stating, “Keep your eyes on the light that is shining and do not look back.”

To further support the initiative, the EFCC pledged to provide instructional materials, guidance, and mentorship to students.

Accordingly, schools were also encouraged to engage members actively and submit regular reports on their activities.
