The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has conducted a Computer-Based Testing (CBT) training workshop for Senior Secondary School teachers across designated zones of the six Area Councils of the Territory.
Accordingly, the move is aimed at enhancing digital literary and examination preparedness of the FCT public schools for transition.
Speaking during the training, the Director/Secretary of the FCT Secondary Education Board, Dr. Sani Mohammed Ladan, expressed that the training is aimed at equipping educators with the necessary skills to guide students through the transition to WAEC’s CBT system.
Ladan explained that a total of 88 Senior Secondary Schools were invited to participate, with each school nominating three teachers for the training.
His words: “A total of 199 participants actively engaged in the workshop, which covered crucial aspects such as CBT navigation, software functionality, and strategies for effective student preparation.”
He emphasized that the training represents a proactive step in ensuring that FCT schools are well-prepared for WAEC’s transition to CBT; adding that the FCT Secondary Education Board is committed to supporting schools in this transition by addressing resource gaps and organizing follow-up sessions for continued learning.
The Director reiterated the Board’s commitment to continuously enhancing the knowledge of teachers, students, and non-academic staff to improve their ability to deliver quality instruction services.
He commended the participants and the ICT experts drawn from various Departments and Boards within the Education Secretariat for their dedication to the initiative.
Ladan, therefore, called on stakeholders in the ICT sector to collaborate with the Board to expand ICT knowledge in schools, particularly among staff and students.
He lauded the FCT Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for the provision of ICT facilities, including the distribution of laptops and tablets to schools across the FCT.
