Wike Mourns Ex-FCT Minister, Useni

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, mourns former FCT Minister, Lt. General Jeremiah Timbut Useni; describing his death as the “fall of one of the biggest trees in the forest of Nigeria.”
Wike’s reaction to the passing of the former FCT Minister was contained in a Press Statement released to the media on 23rd January from his office.
The Minister stated that Useni was a leader Nigerians would never forget, especially his contribution to the development of the nation’s capital between 1993 and 1998.
He said that the late General, who was called “Jerry Boy” was a jolly good fellow who took service to the people as top priority.
Wike said: “Nigerians, especially the Tarok people of Plateau State will never forget the late General for epitomising great virtues. He will be sorely missed by the entire people of Plateau State, Nigerian Armed Forces and Nigerians in general.”
The Minister recalled that Useni joined the Army at the age of 14, went on to become Military Governor of the defunct Bendel State, and held other positions including Minister of Transport, Quarter-Master General of the Nigeria Army, FCT Minister and Senator for the Plateau South of Plateau State, before his demise.
