FCT School Sports Festival Enters Conference Stage

With the successful completion of the zonal Preliminaries of the Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Renewed Hope School Sports Festival, 2025, the competition has entered the conference stage which is set to commence today 18th of February.
What this means is there will be two conferences – Western Conference to be held at Government Secondary School (GSS), Gwagwalada featuring teams from Abaji, Kwali, Gwagwalada and Tunga Maje while the Eastern Conference holding at Government Secondary School (GSS), Garki Area 10 will host teams from Kuje, Tudun Wada, Dutse, and Karu.
Winners of all games except athletics from each zone will compete at the conference stage.
For athletics, all events are scheduled to take place from Monday, 24th February culminating in the finals on Thursday, 27th February 2025.
Meanwhile all qualified athletes in all sports from the eight (8) zones are expected to resume camp on Sunday, 23rd February 2025 at the Department of School Sports Office, Utako.
Interestingly, fourteen schools are participating in Cricket at both senior and junior levels. The cricket pitch of the Moshood Abiola stadium is the venue for the matches.
The Director, FCT Department of School Sports, Malam Hashimu Adamu who was delighted at the performances of the schools, expressed appreciation to the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike for his commitment to developing the Education sector.
He also commended the FCT Education Secretary, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, for his dedication to ensuring all sporting programs hold as scheduled and for his continued encouragement to participating teams across the various zones.
Adamu, while expressing satisfaction with the hitch free organisation of the events added that all these would not have been possible without the relentless efforts of the coordinators from all the zones. He also expressed optimism that the next stage will equally be successful.
