FCT Volleyball Team wins trophy

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Volleyball Team has competed in a Tournament tagged "National Under 17 Inter-Zonal Female Championship Competition held in Jos, PlateauState for the 7 states in the North Central Zone.The competition was also held simultaneously in other geo-political zones.

The tournament was held for the purpose of selecting volleyball players that will compete at the Games Championship in Mexico. All the 8 players from FCT were proven to be proficient at the tournamernt and will be competing for the final screening of all proficient players from other geo-poltical zones in the county at the National Camp which date and venue is yet to be announced. FCT was placed 1st after defeating Kogi in the final match of the North-Central Zone, and emerged the winner.

The players converged at the office of the Acting Director, FCT Sports Department, Luka Istifanus who was delighted at their victory. He encouraged them to go for competitions that will eventually take them to greener pastures. He tipped them for greater heights in their chosen career. Istifanus decried that for a long time FCT has not been competing in the game at National Sports Festival due to its numerous challenges.

The Head Coach of Badminton, FCT Sports, Jones Adakole also counseled them to be consistent in competing for FCT. He cautioned them on enticements from other states while urging them to focus on becoming professionals.

With the support of her principals, Dame Joy Okoro has gradually been solving the many issues that plagued FCT Water Board with the immediate noticeable result being that revenue has shot up apparently for the first time in a while.

In a recent interview with Abuja Digest Weekly's Sennen Udoh, Mr. Ekpenyong, was a journalist's delight to behold as he volunteered consultancy counseling on effective mentoring on education, moral upbringing, and sports/other talents.

The involvement of women in sports in Nigeria in some quarters, particularly in northern Nigeria, is something that is viewed as rather unacceptable but a different ball game in other parts of the country.
