Sept, 2021 | By Nwafor Onyeka | ||

Sir Chiyeaka Ohaa an illustrious son of Nkanu was recently given a resounding welcome by his community Ndi Obuoffia, in Nkanu west Local Government Area of Enugu state. Various groups within and outside the community were present to show their solidarity for the former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Permanent Secretary.

A chieftaincy title was bestowed on Sir Ohaa by the traditional institution during the occasion. Among the dignitaries present were the executive governor of Enugu state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Nnolim Nnaji, Honourable member representing Nkanu East/ West Federal Constituency, traditional rulers and other state actors. The occasion was followed by a Thanksgiving service in honour of Sir Ohaa at the Emmanuel Methodist Church Obuoffia (Awknanaw Central).

During the service, Reverend Father U.U Nmeregini spoke on the good deeds of Sir Ohaa whom he described as a man of the people who loves peace and also the things of God. The Clergy urged the congregation to stay away from gossips as gossips can destroy a community and nation at large.

Reverend Nmeregini prayed that the heart desires of Sir Ohaa be granted by God Almighty. Speaking further, the man of God prayed for Sir Ohaa regarding his political aspirations, that God whom power belongs to shall grant him his request. Sir Ohaa on his part thanked the clergy man and the leadership of the body of Christ for their relentless prayers. In his words; ''I must thank you all my spiritual fathers for your efforts in praying for me, only determination and the grace of God saw me this far and his grace is what keeps me going.

I am not a perfect person but I made a promise to God that my first salary of every year will always go to the churches in the community and by God's grace I kept to that promise; that is my sacrifice to God almighty to fight my seen and unseen battles." Sir Ohaa thanked the community for their solidarity and show of love. Sir Chiyeaka Ohaa before his retirement was Accountant-General of Enugu state, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Youth and Sports, Head of Service, FCT and Ministry of Power.
