ABOUT 10,700 FCTA STAFF SET FOR 2026 CBT PROMOTION EXAMINATION

The Federal Capital Territory Civil Service Commission has announced that over 10,700 workers across 145 cadres will participate in the 2026 promotion exercise scheduled to commence on Monday, October 5, at the National Open University.
Chairman of the Commission, Engr. Emeka Eze, disclosed this in Abuja. while speaking to newsmen after the commission’s meeting convened to confirm readiness for the exercise on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.
He assured candidates that comprehensive arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth, hitch-free process.
The chairman revealed that the upcoming promotion exercise will be conducted using Computer-Based Testing (CBT), with promotion awarded strictly on merit to fill declared vacancies in alignment with public service rules and agency organograms.
“Candidates who sat for the 2025 promotion exercise in July have already received their promotion letters, underscoring the commission’s commitment to a competitive and transparent process,” he said.
Eze highlighted that the 2026 exercise marks a major milestone in fulfilling the Minister’s directive to clear all inherited promotion backlogs. Upon completion, the commission will operate strictly on an up-to-date annual promotion window by 2027.
He instructed eligible candidates to access their specific login details on the commission’s website before the exam date, as these details will also serve as their passwords.
He said: “The CBT format mandates a strict 45-minute duration per candidate, during which the system automatically loads individual profiles upon login, counts down the time, and instantly displays performance results upon completion.
“Candidates are advised to remain calm, follow all examination instructions, and bring their regularisation letters along with proof of staff confirmation.”
The commission reiterated that mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside the examination halls.
