Chelsea ended a three-match losing run in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 victory over struggling Southampton at Stamford Bridge, reigniting their push for a UEFA Champions League spot.
Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring with a 24th-minute header, followed by goals from Pedro Neto and Levi Colwill before halftime. Marc Cucurella sealed the win late with a fourth goal on a swift counterattack. Despite missing several chances, Cole Palmer failed to end his seven-game goal drought.
The win lifts Chelsea to fourth place, easing pressure on manager Enzo Maresca. Southampton, rooted to the bottom of the table, suffered their 22nd defeat of the season, conceding 65 goals in 27 games.
Chelsea now turn their attention to the UEFA Conference League last 16 tie against Copenhagen, while Southampton face league leaders Liverpool on March 8.
