In a strong show of support for Nigeria’s commitment to clean sports, a renowned trauma-informed care specialist and certified counselor, Dr. Adeline Shuri, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the landmark Anti-Doping Bill into law.

Describing the legislation as a “significant stride toward promoting fair play,” Dr. Shuri emphasized the far-reaching benefits of the bill. She highlighted that it will promote fair competition among athletes, safeguard their health by curbing the use of harmful substances, and elevate Nigeria’s reputation in the global sports community.

“The Anti-Doping Bill is a game-changer,” Dr. Shuri stated in an interview with Abuja Digest. “It shows Nigeria’s serious commitment to clean sports, which will inspire trust, increase youth participation, and foster a culture of integrity and healthy competition.”

As a SportsMind expert and co-founder of SportFanZone.org, Dr. Shuri underscored how the legislation would transform the activities of SportsMind, aligning them with international best practices for athlete care and mental health support.

She said her dedication to ensuring athletes thrive both mentally and physically is backed by her expertise in General Psychiatric Management (GPM) for Borderline Personality Disorder from Harvard Medical School, Texas, USA.

Dr Shuri also lauded the efforts of the National Sports Commission (NSC), noting that collaboration with Everight Laboratory’s advanced testing facilities will ensure top-tier anti-doping support across Nigeria. “This partnership will position Nigeria at the forefront of clean sports in Africa,” she added.

Dr. Shuri concluded by reiterating her pride in President Tinubu’s action, stating that this pivotal legislation sets the foundation for a brighter, cleaner future in Nigerian sports.
