Celtics Make History with Record-Breaking 3-Pointers In Win Over Suns

The Boston Celtics made NBA history Friday night by sinking more 3-pointers in a single season than any team ever before. In a dominant 123-103 win over the Phoenix Suns, the Celtics surpassed the previous record set by the Golden State Warriors just two seasons ago.
The record-breaking shot came early in the second quarter when guard Payton Pritchard nailed a 3-pointer from the left side of the court. That bucket marked the team’s 1,364th three of the season — setting a brand new league record.
Just minutes earlier, big man Kristaps Porzingis tied the record with style. He faked out a defender, stepped to his left, and drilled a deep shot from the top of the key with just under 10 minutes left in the second quarter.
By the final buzzer, Boston had hit 14 of 39 shots from beyond the arc, bringing their season total to 1,370 threes.
This is not unfamiliar territory for the Celtics — they already sit third on the all-time list after hitting 1,351 threes last season on their way to an NBA title.
Friday’s game was not just about numbers — the Celtics put on a show. Jaylen Brown wowed the crowd by banking in a deep, wild 35-foot three-pointer as the shot clock ran out. Then, Jayson Tatum casually dribbled up from half-court and nailed a 29-footer like it was nothing.
It was a strong team performance and a flashy display of long-range shooting that not only earned them a win, but also carved their name into the NBA record books.
