FCTA Demolishes Illegal Car Stands

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has carried out a massive demolition exercise of illegal car stands on a transitway by Fraser Suites in the Central Area District.
The demolition exercise was carried out by the Joint Task Force, led by the Director, Department of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima.
The operation, which was executed with precision and caution, saw the removal of numerous car stands that had been erected illegally.
Before the demolition exercise, the authorities had earlier notified the owners to remove their valuables to minimize unnecessary losses and ensure a smooth demolition process.
The Director, who was represented at the event by Mr. Osita Ume, Sector Monitor covering the district, explained that the demolition was necessitated by the fact that the structures were erected on a transitway, thereby, obstructing access to the area.
“The car stands were not only illegal but also posed a significant challenge to the free flow of traffic,” the Director said.
Galadima reiterated the commitment of the FCT Administration to ensure that the city is free from unauthorized structures.
He advised developers and other stakeholders to seek proper advice from relevant authorities or agencies to obtain necessary approval before erecting any structure within the city.
“Accordingly, the demolition exercise is part of the FCTA’s efforts to sanitize the city and enforce compliance with development control regulations,” the Director stressed.
