Shun Electoral Violence; Traditional Ruler Enjoins FCT Youth

The youth in the Federal Capital Territory have been enjoined to shun electoral violence and instead be agents of peace and security in their respective communities.
The Chairman FCT Council of Chiefs and Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, made the call receiving the management and staff of Sustainable Solutions for Youths and the Vulnerable Initiative, a Youth based NGO, in his Palace in Abaji.
Yunusa said, by engaging our youth in promoting peace, dialoque and understanding, the nation can build a stronger, more cohesive society that is resilient.
The Ona urged all stakeholders to join hands in this noble endeavor, to create a lasting legacy of peace and harmony for future generations.
Earlier, the Etsu kwali , the Nizaza III, Mr. Luka Ayedoo, said lack of peace was as a result of negligence among people and, therefore, stressed the need for every individual to propagate peace and unity.
Ayedoo promised to work with the Sustainable Solutions for Youths and the Vulnerable Initiative to ensure that the voices of the youth are heard, their talents nurtured and their potential unleashed for the greater good of the community.
He called on the youth to avoid being used as political thugs.
In her remarks, the founder and team lead of the Sustainable Solutions for Youth and Vulnerable Initiatives, Miss Ayotola Ilori said her NGO was established with the aim of initiating for the sustainability of peace and security advocacy campaign among youth, and to also encourage sustainable projects for youths to be self reliant.
Ilori said the NGO has initiated programmes to sensitize youth against violence during forthcoming elections in the six Area Councils of the FCT.
