Acting DG FEMD calls on Motorists to always exercise caution  while driving

The acting Director General Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD), Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed has appealed to motorists to exercise caution while driving on the roads.

He also stressed the need to ensure that vehicles are in a motorable condition before putting them on the roads.

The acting DG made the call following a motor accident that occurred on Monday, 26th May, 2025, at about 6.30 pm, on the Nyanya bridge.

The FEMD search and rescue team was on the ground to attend to the victims, adding that two out of the four victims are said to be responding to treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Meanwhile, the body of the young man who lost his life during the incident has been handed over to his family by the FCT Police Command and the Search and Rescue Team of FEMD.

The accident occurred when a truck carrying bottled beverages experienced brake failure and rammed into other vehicles on the bridge until it collided with a construction company truck.

The victims who are members of one family were said to be standing by the roadside when they were injured.

The drivers of both trucks were unhurt, and a female customs officer, whose vehicle was crushed by the beverage truck, escaped unhurt.

Personnel of the FCT Emergency Management Department, Federal Road Safety Corps, and the FCT Police Command participated in the rescue operations.

The FEMD also urged residents to always use the 112 emergency toll-free number in the event of any emergency.
