Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has directed contractors to quickly put finishing touches and clean up their projects for commissioning.

The Minister gave this directive on June 4th, 2025, after the inspection of some of the 17 signature projects slated for commissioning by President Bola Tinubu as part of activities to commemorate his second year in office.

Some of the projects would be commissioned by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, the Minister disclosed.

He said, “For now, they are just putting finishing touches. Let them do that and clean up the roads. I think when they call me on Sunday or Monday, the road will have been cleaned.

“We were at the International Conference Center, looking at where the people will sit and where the President will stay to be able to inaugurate the project. So, there’s nothing really, other than to make sure that they know the things they have to do, and that’s all.”

Wike disclosed that the President has approved the inauguration of 17 projects across the Territory, expected to commence on 10 June 2025, with the International Conference Centre (ICC).

He added that the President Tinubu himself would commission not less than 10 of the projects, including those in the satellite towns.

According to him, the following day, 11th June, the Gishiri Road, along with the interchange, which connects Jahi, Maitama and Mabushi, would be inaugurated.

The Minister disclosed that he would personally takeover supervision of the maintenance of the newly rehabilitated ICC, which will be handled by Julius Berger (Nig.) PLC

Abuja Digest reports that the FCT Administration has completed 19 projects within the last year under the Renewed Hope Agenda, with support from the President and members of the National Assembly.
