FCTA Mandate Secretary Celebrates GSSS Maitama Students’ Global Tech Award, Assures Support for South Africa Trip

The Mandate Secretary, for Education in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Dr. Danlami Hayyo  has applauded the outstanding achievement of students from Government Science Secondary School, Maitama/Pyakasa, who clinched second place out of 55 countries in the just concluded Open African Countries (OAC) Tech Experts Competition 2025.

Dr. Hayyo hailed the students for their outstanding performance, during a courtesy visit to the Education Secretariat, Thursday, 19th June 2025.

While addressing the students, the Mandate Secretary expressed deep satisfaction with their performance, noting that such accomplishments are a testament to the FCT’s investment in quality education and youth development.

He charged the students to remain exemplary ambassadors of the FCT and Nigeria at large.

The Mandate Secretary assured the students of the FCTA’s commitment to facilitating their next international engagement, a planned trip to South Africa for the next edition of the OAC Tech Experts Competition.

According to him, Hon. Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike will be briefed about supporting the students’ journey to represent Nigeria on the global stage.

“We are proud of you, and we are confident that with the right support, you will soar even higher,” the Secretary concluded.

While officially presenting the awards to the Mandate Secretary on behalf of the victorious students, the school’s principal, Isah Usman, praised the hard work, creativity, and resilience demonstrated by the students which earned them global recognition.

The principal described them as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria’s youth innovation and intellect.

The five student representatives are Oyewuchi Treasure Chima, Osaka Kosisochukwu Praise, Fidelis Shiloh Yusuf, Ikediashi Immanuella Hayenoseh, and Okechukwu Nmesoma Victory, who were each honored with individual presentations and applauded for their commitment to excellence.

Also in Attendance were the Permanent Secretary for Education, Joy Okeke, and the Director, Department of Science, Technology Innovation, Olobashola Kolawole.
