PROVOST FCT COE PROPOSES HYBRID LEARNING FOR TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

Federal Capital Territory College of Education, (COE) Zuba, Provost, Dr. Sule Mundi has underscored the necessity for institutions to adopt hybrid learning as a strategic initiative to enhance educational development across the country.

Dr. Mundi proposed  this in his keynote address during the 2025 National Education Workshop held in Abuja recently, with the aim to promote knowledge and innovation in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

He praised the School of Education for creating an excellent opportunity to improve teaching and learning and described the Workshop as a renewed call for educators to utilise digital tools and innovative teaching methods to enhance the quality of education in Nigeria.

In his speech during the event, the Dean of the School of Education, Dr. Badamasi Tarda expressed his gratitude for the support from the Provost, the management team, and the entire College Community.

He emphasised the importance of enhancing academic activities and adopting technology-driven teaching methods. He stated that hybrid learning for teacher educators will better engage students and promote the achievement of academic excellence through the use of technology.

Furthermore, the President of the Commonwealth Council for Education, Administration, and Management, Professor Hauwa Imam, represented by Dr. Zainab Abubakar Kaoje from the University of Abuja, Professor Helen Kwanashie Ochuko from the National Open University, alongside Mr. Kwanashie Ozotu Yahuza, made presentations on hybrid learning for educators.

They encouraged teachers to enhance their interaction with students through technology, emphasizing how digital transformation is reshaping academic activities. They also highlighted the importance of cybersecurity awareness.

Also present at the occasion were  Chairman of the Association of National Confederation of Principals, Dr. Bello Adamu Gupa, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Educational Research and Development Center (NERDC), Prof. Salisu Shehu, who was represented by Dr. Olakunle S. Akinsola, and the Director, College of Education (COE) at the Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. Uchenna Cecilia Uba, represented by Deputy Director, Mr. Godwin Egbunefu, who in their goodwill messages commended the Provost for supporting  the educational conference

The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards of recognition on the COE Provost, Dr. Sule Mundi and Deputy Provost, Dr. Adegbemisola Olotu for promoting the use of digital technology in education.
