PARTS OF FCT, MARARABA AND SULEJA LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE HEAVY FLOODS IN THE COMING DAYS.

The following locations in the Federal Capital Territory are likely to witness heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding within the period of prediction, 31st and 4th of July 2025.

A statement by the National Flood Early Warning Center (FEWS), Federal Ministry of Environment, says about eleven locations in the FCT may be affected.

The locations include Asokoro, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Damagaza, and Garki 1&2. Other locations in the FCT are Guzape, Wuse 1&2, Gwarinpa, Nyanya,CBD and Kubwa.

In a reaction to the early warning, the Ag Director General of FEMD Engr Abdulrahman Mohammed has placed the Search and Rescue Team of FEMD on red alert to forestall the loss of life in the event of heavy floods.

Engr Abdulrahman has appealed to residents not to drive or wade into a pool of water.

” Please wait for the water to recede or use an alternative route.” Please clear your drains to ensure free flow of water. He said.

He assured that FEMD was monitoring the water levels and was prepared to mitigate the impact of flooding in the Territory.

Meanwhile, FEWS has also warned that states contiguous to the FCT may likely experience heavy floods.

In Niger State, Suleja, Mashegu, Sarkin Pawa, and Rijau are at high risk. Mararaba, Gidan Rogo, Wamba, Agima, Rukubi, and Odogbo in Nasarawa State are at high risk of flooding.

Similarly, five locations in Kaduna State are expected to experience heavy floods. They are Zaria, Jaji, Kauru, Kachia, and Buruku.
