FCTA RECIEVES FOUR CNG BUSES TO BOOST PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

In line with the objectives of the Presidential CNG initiative (Pi CNG) and the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to fast track the Country’s transition to cleaner, more affordable and more sustainable transportation system, the Pi-CNG Limited, on Thursday, handed over four Hybrid Powered CNG buses to the Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike, in furtherance of the collaboration between NNPC Limited and the Presidential CNG Initiative, to promote affordable and clean energy transportation in Nigeria.

Speaking at the occasion held at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Complex, Programme Director, Chief Executive of Pi-CNG, Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi, in his handover address to the FCT Administration, stated that the NNPC Limited is supporting the deployment of CNG-powered buses to advance sustainable transportation, reduce carbon emissions, and improve public mobility, adding, This Handover Note documents the delivery and receipt of four CNG-powered buses for deployment under the Pi-CNG operational framework.

Part of the Handover note read that the FCTA shall be responsible for the operation, upkeep, and maintenance of the CNG-powered buses throughout their service life, asserting that the Pi-CNG shall monitor its deployment and impact to ensure that the buses are actively utilized for their intended public service purposes.

FCT Minister, represented by the Mandate Secretary, FCTA Transportation Secretariat, Dr. Chinedum Elechi thanked the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the initiative, reiterating that the buses would greatly improve the transportation system of the FCT.

After the signing of agreements between the Pi-CNG and the FCTA, Dr. Elechi inspected the buses and received the keys on behalf of the Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike.
