The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has said that it is committed to its core responsibilities of sensitising and educating the citizenry on key policies and programmes of government with the view to creating understanding between the government and the populace.
This will bridge gaps in governance and ensure unity and development through widespread information dissemination and citizen engagement.
The Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, stated this during a press conference, Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, at the Conference Room of the Director, NOA Federal Capital Territory Directorate in Abuja, and said that the Agency will begin a nationwide sensitisation campaign in a couple of weeks.
The Director-General, who was represented at the occasion by the Director, Finance and Accounts, Mallam Sule Haruna said that the Agency, in other to meet its mandate has expanded its messaging platforms to incorporate the various demographic audiences by reinvigorating its several media platforms including an artificial intelligence personnel termed ‘Crime, Health, Environment, Education, Abuse and Narcotic’ (CLHEEAN) to meet the information needs of Nigerians, particularly, the younger generation.
The Agency, he said, has consistently rolled out programmes to create ease of understanding of government policies by the public, including partnerships with 180 media outlets in the country.
He said that the 3rd quarter nationwide physical sensitisation campaign, which will cover the 36 states of the Federation and the FCT, will take an on-the-ground approach geared towards ensuring a wider reach to cover every community in the 774 local government areas of the country.
According to him, the campaign will focus on five thematic areas covering sensitisation on the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which he said has benefited over 600, 000 students with over N59 billion already disbursed by government and the Social Safety Net Expansion which now includes household support fund, tradermoni and farmersmoni introduced under the Government Empowerment and Enterprise Programme (GEEP), the National Youth Investment Fund targeted at 250,000 youths and N110 billion earmarked by the Federal Government, the Artisinal Fund championed by the Industrial Training Fund and the Renewed Hope Infrastructural Fund established to upgrade 700 rural schools nationwide, as a measure for education sector enhancement.
Others are flood disaster management and security awareness, national values reorientation, particularly, extreme school graduation practices, together with national identity and national symbols awareness, aimed at promoting patriotism among Nigerians and the right attitude towards national symbols.
The Director-General added that the programme, scheduled to reach not less than a million citizens per state, was also initiated to provide the public with the opportunity to give their opinion on government policies and access to necessary clarifications on public issues.
He said that the sensitisation will be conducted through media platforms, rallies, road shows, advocacy visits, community engagements, and town hall meetings.
Recall that similar sensitisation campaigns on various national issues, such as the national anthem and national pledge, HIV/AIDS, birth registration, as well as the new tax reform bill, were carried out in the FCT some months ago by the FCT Directorate.
The programme will help enhance FCT residents’ awareness of these issues, especially flood disaster management, being that the Territory is one of the flood-prone states in the country.
Security awareness will further promote security consciousness among residents and help the Administration consolidate its achievements. Present at the event were NOA’s top officials and other staff of the Agency
