The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike has flagged off the construction of access roads (Arterial Roads N11, N16, N40, and SIL 03) in Karasana District.

Barr. Wike flagged off the road project on Friday, September 26 2025 and described it as a “promise made, promise kept”.

In his words: “This flag-off is a promise made and a promise kept”.

The Minister emphasised that the project is a critical aspect of the Renewed Hope Agenda, recalling that the President, during the flag-off of the 10,000-unit Renewed Hope Estate on February 4, 2024, directed the FCT Administration to provide engineering infrastructure, including roads, to the area.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and confidence in the FCT Administration.

Barr. Wike disclosed that the roads, known as Arterial Roads N11, N16, N40, and SILS.03, would also provide access to the ongoing Renewed Hope Estate located within the area.

He stated that a road network is what first defines a city before any other facilities, and reiterated that while the construction of hospitals, schools, and houses is significant, their impact is maximised when supported by a good road network. The Minister added that a robust road infrastructure also attracts investors to a region.

He commended Lubrik Construction Company for mobilising to the site ahead of schedule, thanking them for their confidence in the administration and promising not to take their commitment for granted.

“Let me assure the residents of Karsana District that we have discussed with the contractors; we will do everything within our power to ensure funds are made available so that, by the third anniversary of Mr President, we will achieve the inauguration of this road network,” Wike said.

“I hope the contractors will keep their promises, as they have done before,” he added, calling on the community to support the contractors in fulfilling the promises of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Minister also commended the Acting Executive Secretary, Engr. Richard Dauda and the contractors who have continually delivered quality projects on time.

The Acting Head of Service of the FCTA, Nancy Nathan, described the project as a strategic intervention in the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

She appreciated the Minister for his pragmatic and visionary leadership in driving infrastructure development in the territory.

“With great honour and deep gratitude, I thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving priority to infrastructural development in the FCT. This project is a strategic intervention contributing to making Abuja a model city. We also appreciate the contractors, residents, and all stakeholders for their cooperation,” she said.

On his part, the Acting Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Engr. Richard Dauda, while presenting the project overview, revealed that the Karasana Access Roads Project covers a total length of 10.5 kilometres.

He added that the project, approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in March 2025, is expected to be completed within 18 months and will include pipe culverts and box drains, ring drains, as well as Solar-powered Street lighting.

Engr Dauda explained that the road network will begin from the Outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway), extend along Arterial Road N40 within the Karasana North-East railway corridor, link with Arterial Road N11 and adjoining local streets.

Project Manager, Lubrik Construction Company Limited, Anthony Khoury, pledged to work closely with stakeholders and the host community to ensure the project’s successful completion.
