The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has said that it was open to collaborations with private and public organisations in the development of the nation’s capital.
Secretary, Education Secretariat, FCTA, Danlami Hayyo, made this call at the closing ceremony of the 6-Day i-Dreams digital entrepreneurship masterclass, which was organized in collaboration with the Secretariat in Abuja, Friday.
Represented by the Secretariat’s Director of Administration and Finance, Abdulrazaq Leramoh, the Secretary stated that his organisation was committed to partnering and networking with Non-Governmental Organizations for economic growth, job creation and poverty reduction in the FCT.
His words: “Permit me to reiterate that the FCT Administration is committed to collaborations and networking with Non-Governmental Organizations with unique and focused programmes to stimulate economic growth, job creation, and most importantly, poverty reduction in the FCT.”
“Our doors are open to more collaborations of this nature hence government alone cannot achieve nation-building, so all hands must be on deck to support the government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to achieve his 8 Point Agenda,” he said.
Commenting i-Dreams for training and empowering women in Nigeria through their various projects, particularly digital entrepreneurship training, he said “it was complementing government efforts in educational development and inclusiveness in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).”
According to him, the training “fosters women’s digital skills and the ability to develop their entrepreneurship potentials which will further translate to boost the technological and innovative initiatives of the grassroots women.”
The Secretary, therefore, charged the participants to continue to develop themselves technologically so as to remain relevant in the economic development processes of Nigeria.
Co-founder of i-Dreams, Eghogho Ogbeide, while speaking to journalists at the event, disclosed that her organisation was able to train 70 women during the empowerment programme.
Ogbeide explained that i-Dreams decided to empower women on digital entrepreneurship to give them a sense of belonging in the society, even as she appealed for funding and more collaborations to be able to do more.
