The Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mr. Olusade Adesola, has admonished staff of the Administration to avoid coming to work late and work to improve their productivity.

The Permanent Secretary also enjoined staff to desist from indulging in mediocrity and laziness towards work as well as wilfully with-holding government files and official business.

The Permanent Secretary made this admonition while flagging-off a One Day Ted Talk and Induction of the newly appointed Nodal and Focal Officers across the Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDAs) in commemoration of the 2023 Customer Service Week at the FCDA Conference Hall, Tuesday.

While condemning these negative traits, Adesola said the Administration will no longer tolerate such behaviour from any staff on the payroll of the FCTA, as the Administration steps up efforts to fully digitalize.

The Permanent Secretary, who was represented at the occasion by the Director of ICT, Mr. Augustine Ugafor, remarked that “the vision of the FCT Administration to build a World Class City can only be achieved by commitment, doggedness and diligence of an excellent workforce, which by extension captures the core mandate of FCT SERVICOM.”

His words: “This mandate can only be achieved through men and women with innovative and result- driven dispositions.”

He maintained that the FCT Administration is poised to ensure that quality services are delivered to all Nigerians and foreigners, who reside or dwell in the city.

Adesola said the Annual FCTA Staff Recognition and Award has come to stay and the government will not relent in recognizing and rewarding staff who push beyond their boundaries to promote service excellence in the Territory.

Meanwhile, speaking in his capacity as the Director of ICT, Mr. Augustine said all SDAs have been mandated to fully digitalize their operations by December 2025.

He cautioned staff to improve their skills in order to fit into the upcoming system.

According to him, “The Head of Service has mandated all MDAs to digitize their operations by the end of December 2025. On our part, we are in the process of doing that and very soon you will start seeing the effects and anybody who doesn’t have such skills would find it difficult to operate.”

“In conjunction with your Director, we will organize a special training for you soon so that you can handle what is coming,” he added.

In her goodwill message, the Director of Reforms Co-ordination and Service Improvement Department, Dr. (Mrs.) Jumai Ahmedu, who was represented by an Assistant Director, Mr. Fatai Bello, said the Department has the Service Improvement Arm whose customers are mainly the residents of the FCT.

The Director called for inter-departmental cooperation with the Nodal and Focal Officers as outlined by the theme: Team Service using the citizens engagement platform of the Department which has been doing greatly in providing feedback about the ways and manners services are engaged in the FCT.

Earlier in her welcome address FCT Servicom Director and FCT Nodal Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Kayode cautioned staff against working in isolation, while laying more emphasis on the theme of the Customer Service Week, ‘Team Service’

She said four days were organized for rallies starting from Tuesday.
