Nominees Announced For Men’s World Athlete Of The Year 2023

Nominees for Men’s World Athlete of the Year 2023 have been announced by World Athletics on Thursday (12 October), two months before the winner will be announced on 11 December.
Marathon world record breaker Kelvin Kiptum, Sprint superstar Noah Lyles, pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis, and Indian javelon hero Neeraj Chopra are included in the list of 11 males nominated.

Many of the athletes are featured due to their performances at the World Athletics Championships Budapest 2023, where Lyles clinched three gold medals. Kenya’s rising marathon star Kelvin Kiptum is on the list after smashing Eliud Kipchige’s world record at the 2023 Chicago Marathon.
The nominees are:
Noah Lyles, USA – Three time world champion.
Neeraj Chopra, India – World and Asian Games javelin champion.
Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis, Sweden – Pole vault world champion, Diamond League winner with world record.
Karsten Warholm, Norway – 400m hurdles world champion.
Miltiadis Tentoglou, Greece – World long jump champion.
Pierce LePage, Canada – Decathlon world champion.
Alvaro Martin, Spain – World 20km and 35km race walk champion.
Kelvin Kiptum, Kenya – London and Chicago marathon winner, marathon world record breaker.
Soufiane El Bakkali, Morocco – 3000m steeplechase world champion.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Norway – World 5000m champion, 1500m silver medallist.
Ryan Crouser, USA – Shot put world champion.
A three-way voting process will determine the finalists.
The World Athletics Council and the World Athletics Family will cast their votes by email, while fans can vote online via the World Athletics social media platforms.
The World Athletics Council’s vote will count for 50% of the result, while the World Athletics Family’s votes and the public votes will each count for 25% of the final result.
Voting for the World Athletes of the Year closes at midnight on Saturday 28 October. At the conclusion of the voting process, five women and five men finalists will be announced by World Athletics on 13-14 November.
