Hayyo Advocates For Policies To Strengthen Educational Funding

The FCT Education Secretary, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, has called on policy makers in the Education Sector to formulate policies that will ensure adequate funding for equitable access to quality Education.

Accordingly this deliberate policies will further ensure modern facilities and updated resources for teaching and learning.

Hayyo made this call during the Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Committee of Deans of Education in Nigerian Universities in Kano.

He said insufficient funding affects several key areas in Education, which limits opportunities for the overall quality of Education.

The Secretary stated that the theme of the AGM, “Funding Tertiary Education in a Depressed Economy: issues challenges and Way Forward” is apt and underscores the critical nature in addressing the current Educational Landscape’s Challenge.

He noted the need to unite, strategize, push for innovations and explore sustainable solutions, which should remain paramount.

Hayyo explained that Education stands as the cornerstone for National development and progress, particularly in the face of economic adversity, it becomes imperative to fortify our commitment to the development and sustenance of Tertiary Education.

He said the challenges faced can not be ignored as it also present opportunities for School Administrators and Stakeholders to be resilient, inventive and collaborative.

The Secretary encouraged the Deans to continue to foster partnerships , leveraging technology and advocating for supportive policies, which according to him will collectively pave a pathway towards a more robust and sustainabile Educational system.

Hayyo commended the Committee of Deans for their foresight; adding that they play an instrumental role in shaping the future of Tertiary Education.
