African Games: Nigeria Records Wins In Men And Women’s Football

Nigeria recorded its second win as it walloped Senegal 4-0 in their second Group B game in the women’s football event of the African Games 2023 on Monday night.

With that win, the Falconets have progressed into the semi-finals.

Loveth Edeh gave the Falcons the lead in the 13th minute before Motunrayo Ezekiel added the second on 50 minutes.

An own goal by a Senegalese player on 51 minutes made it 3-0 before Chioma Olise added the fourth on 80 minutes.

In their first group game of the competition the Nigerian U-20 women’s team beat
Morocco 2-0.

Meanwhile the Flying Eagles have staged a comeback into the competition with a 1-0 win over South Sudan in their second group game.

The win coming after a defeat to Uganda in their opening match adds to their chance of progressing and will further boost the morale of the team.

A second half goal from Sadiq Isiaka via a penalty kick was all that was needed to secure victory.

They Flying Eagles now need a draw to advance to the semis as they take on Senegal in their final group game on Friday.
