Abuja Metro-line Commences Operation May 27

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will flag-off the commencement of the commercial operation of the Abuja Metroline by the 27th May 2024.
The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who made this revelation Friday, during his final inspection of projects earmarked for inauguration by the end of the month, to mark the first year anniversary of President Tinubu in office, said that all plans have been concluded to open the Abuja Metroline to the public.
His words: “By the approval of Mr. President, we believe that 27th of this month, we shall start the inauguration of various projects, particularly, on 27th we believe the President will flag off the commercial operation of the Abuja Metroline.”
Accordingly, Wike has lined up several Multi-Billion-Naira projects for inauguration to mark President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s one year in office.
The Minister, who reaffirmed this commitment to change the narratives of the FCT, stated that he would not be distracted by any situation.
He stressed that his mandate as the FCT Minister was to deliver dividends of democracy to FCT residents and he is committed to doing that.
According to him, “I am not distracted. If am distracted, you won’t see this performance here. I focus on my work. Am not interested, am the Minister of the FCT, the works are going on; if am distracted, how will these works be progressing?”
The Minister expressed satisfaction over all the road works inspected and commended the contractors for delivering the jobs on schedule.
“This is the final inspection as regards the preparedness for the inauguration of various projects in the Territory,” he added.
“From what we have seen, we believe we are ready for the commissioning from 27th of May and will end June 6th. Is going to be a nine day long event,” he said.
“So, we are happy because the contractors are meeting up. All the promises they made have been fulfilled and we have also fulfilled our own part by making sure that we have cash backup. None of them is complaining in terms of cash”, Wike stressed.
On the issue of some streetlights malfunctioning, the Minister explained that massive work are ongoing on the streetlights, however, he assured that every project meant to be completed before May 27th, will be completed.
