Having reached ground zero of the building that collapsed this morning in Kubwa, a suburb of Abuja, the FCT Emergency Management Department,(FEMD), has called off rescue operations at the incident scene.

Announcing the cessation of rescue operations, the Acting Director-General of FEMD, Florence Wenegieme, said the decision followed the removal of the rubble of the collapsed building and the discovery that no other person was trapped in the rubble.

The site has, therefore, been handed over to the Director, Department of Development Control, Tpl Muktar Galadima, and his team, who are the lead agency.

The Department of Development Control will be working with the Standards Organization of Nigeria and the National Institute of Building and Road Research,( NIBRR) to do the needful.

Abuja Digest recalls that four persons have earlier been rescued alive from the rubble of a collapsed two-story building located at Cupid Hotel, Sultan Dasuki Road, Phase 2, Site 2, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council.
