FCTA Pledges Support To Vulnerable Residents

The Federal Capital Territory Administration will support vulnerable and indigent residents in and around the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Accordingly, those who are genuinely in urgent need of assistance to upscale their living, particularly the vulnerable ones will supported to live a more meaningful life.
The Mandate Secretary, FCT Social Development Secretariat, Ibrahim Aminu, gave this assurance at the commencement of the distributions of palliatives to the vulnerable and indigents residents of the Territory.
The Mandate Secretary stated that the distribution was part of efforts by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to mitigate and cushion the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy and other economic policies being put in place.
In a symbolic presentation of about 850 bags of rice to over 20 vulnerable and indigent groups across the FCT, Aminu noted that the FCT Administration is determined to making positive impact in the lives of the vulnerable, the indigent and other groups in this category across the FCT to make life more meaningful to them.
While acknowledging the fact that the palliatives might not be able to get to every single individual, home or group that requires the assistance, he assured that the Administration will continue to do its best to ensure that in the subsequent releases, priority will be accorded to those group that did not make today’s list.
The Mandate Secretary admonished the beneficiaries to continue to support the Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike and the Minister of State, FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud as the government works round the clock to ensure that the current reforms being undertaken, ultimately benefits the masses and ordinary Nigerians.
He also assured that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike through the Social Development Secretariat is committed to providing a nurturing environment; protecting the rights and advocacy for children and other vulnerable groups in the FCT.
In her submission, the Permanent Secretary, SDS, Hajiya Asma’u Mukhtar, promised that the Secretariat would ensure that the distribution process of the palliative is seamless and that they will ensure that the items get to those it was intended for.
She urged the beneficiaries to use the food items wisely and also endeavor to share with those around them who are in need.
Responding, the leader of the special needs group, Kiema Ogunlana, commended the Federal Government and the FCT Administration for the initiative; stating that the gesture came at the right time as it will ensure that the palliative gets to those that it is meant for.
On her part, Celestina Onyeanuforo, member of the St. Monica’s Widows Association, appreciated the Administration for remembering them at this difficult time; adding that the gesture will go a long way in helping her and her family.
