The Director, Information and Communication Department, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Muhammad Hazat Sule, has assured the leadership of the FCT Administration of the Department’s commitment to continually promote the activities and the image of the FCT Administration including Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDA’s).

The Director said the Department has a statutory responsibility to project the activities of the Ministers as well as other organs of the FCT Administration to the World.

Sule stated this, when he received the delegation ofthe management staff of the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FCT-EMD),led by the Acting Director-General, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, who paid him a working visit, Thursday, at his office, Area II, Garki I District,Abuja.

He said the aim of establishing the Department by the authority, is to efficiently promote and project the activities and the image of the Ministers as well as other Agencies of the government in the FCTA,which he is committed in discharging this onerous responsibility efficiently and professionally.

The Director reaffirmed his commitment to always partner with the various Agencies of the Administration in undertaking this task; adding that the Department is central to the programmes of the FCT Administration.

According to him, the Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has been doing a good job, especially in the area of provision of infrastructure, hence the need to sufficiently promote such activities by theDepartment.

The Director said, by adequately reporting events of FCTA including FEMD, Information Officers in the FCT will be serving the residents and indeed, humanity.

His words: “God has put us in a vantage position to serve the people of FCT and assist humanity. The Department must serve the leadership of the FCT Administration, the Minister, the Minister of State, and all other organs of the Administration. We have the responsibility to showcase the activities of the government to the residents of the FCT and the entire World. We will continue to do all within our powers to discharge our responsibilities.”

The Director also promised to collaborate with FEMD to ensure that the Agency discharges its duties.

He, therefore, appealed to the Director-General of FEMD to partner with the Information and Communication Department by advertising its activities in the Abuja Digest Newspapers; saying that any patronage coming to the Newspaper is for the interest of the entire FCT Administration, because whatever patronage that the Newspaper gets from any Agency of the FCTA comes back to the coffers of the FCTA.

Earlier, the Acting Director-General of FEMD, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, commended the Director of Information and Communication Department for the good job he has been doing in promoting the affairs of FEMD and indeed all other Agencies of the FCTA.

Mohammed disclosed that the Agency has taken a proactive step to respond to emergency matters, particularly the recent earth tremor that occurred in parts of the FCT.

He stated that soon as the incident was reported, he activated the Emergency Response Team and quickly moved to the site of the incident to conduct on the spot assessment of the situation in unison with other Federal Agencies.

On the issue of flood, the FEMD Director-General, said the organization is proactive in carrying out awareness campaign as well as removing obstacles that could cause flood in the FCT.

He revealed that the Agency visited Abaji, Yaba and other places where it interacted with traditional rulers and other stakeholders in an effort aimed at tackling flood and its associated challenges in the Territory.

According to him, the recent early warning signs, flood alerts, by the Federal Government where states such as Kogi, Niger bordering the FCT are listed as potential flood prone zones, also push FEMD to work harder; noting that anything that affects Niger and Kogi may likely affect the FCT.

The FEMD Boss said the Agency holds the Department of Information and Communication in high esteem and as a critical stakeholder that is positively reporting the activities of FEMD.

Also speaking at the occasion, FEMD Assistant Director and Head of Procurement, Mrs. UkejeNkechi Arinze, thanked the Director of Information and Communication for obliging the request for the Courtesy Call by FEMD management and his role in the reportage of the Agency’s activities.

She also commended the leadership of FEMD under the acting Director-General for his proactive steps aimed at ensuring efficient and prompt response to emergencies in the FCT.
