AEPB Gets 48 Hours To Improve Abuja Garbage Collection

The Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) has been instructed to improve its services, particularly garbage collection around the Federal Capital City, Abuja.
The Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), Chief Felix Amechi Obuah, gave this instruction during an inspection tour of Asokoro District to assess the state of cleanliness in the area.
The Coordinator expressed disappointment with the slow pace of garbage collection; emphasizing that Abuja, as the nation’s capital, should be a model city for cleanliness.
Obuah said the issuance of the directive to the Board has become necessary to ensure that Asokoro is thoroughly cleaned within 48 hours.
The Coordinator also directed the AEPB management to recall all casual staff immediately to accelerate the process and ensure the district meets the expected standard befitting of Abuja.
Obuah advised that similar efforts be extended to other districts in the Federal Capital City, including Maitama, Central Business District, Wuse I & II, as well as other areas within Abuja metropolis.
He insisted that high standards environmental cleanliness must be maintained at all times across the entire Federal Capital City; stating that Abuja should not only be clean but should also set the benchmark for other cities in Nigeria.
The Coordinator was accompanied on the inspection tour by some officials of AMMC and the Director of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), Engr. Osi Braimah.
