Women Affairs Secretary bags Award

The Mandate Secretary, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Women Affairs Secretariat, Dr. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi has bagged a Ministerial Award of Excellence in recognition of her outstanding support to changing the narrative for women and children in the Federal Capital Territory.

The Award Presented at the just-concluded 24th National Council on Women in Jos, Plateau State, was part of activities to honour selected Nigerians, who have distinguished themselves in various intervention activities for women, children and other vulnerables in the society.

Speaking during the occasion, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said the FCT Women Affairs Mandate Secretary has exhibited unprecedented strides in terms of ensuring that women, children, the aged, as well as people living with disability are given a sense of belonging in governance.

The Minister extoled the virtues of the Mandate Secretary as being exemplary and visionary in carrying out her duties as Pioneer Mandate Secretary of FCT Women Affairs Secretariat.

Responding, Benjamins-Laniyi appreciated the Committee and the entire Management of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs for selecting her for the Award.

She promised to do more while acknowledging support from the First Lady and the Minister of FCT as factors that assisted in her performance.

Meanwhile, the 24th Council on Women Affairs has approved two memoranda for implementation in the Federal Capital Territory, aimed at providing strategic interventions for the vulnerable, especially people living with disability.

The Memoranda is on the establishment of Men’s Health Gender Equality Programme and establishment of skills acquisition hub for indigent women, including persons with disability in FCT.
