As the festive period approaches, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has advised the residents of the Territory to take proactive measures to secure their homes and surroundings, particularly those planning to travel or leave their residences unattended.
This was contained in a Press Statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, and made available to Abuja Digest, Thursday in Abuja.
The statement, however, assured the residents of its unwavering commitment to ensuring their safety and security throughout the Yuletide season.
The statement added that to promote safety and prevent crime during this period, the residents are enjoined to abide by certain safety tips which include lightening up surroundings; maintenance of clear visibility; and being vigilant.
Others include engaging neighbors to be at the look out for you; lock up all doors, windows, and gates; and avoid sharing travel plans.
The statement further advised residents to contact the Police immediately via the Command’s emergency lines by reporting suspicious activities.
“The FCT Police Command will intensify patrols and vigilance throughout the festive season to ensure a safe environment for all. Cooperation and timely reporting by members of the public will go a long way in ensuring the safety of lives and property,” the statement emphasized.
