INSECURITY: FEC APPROVES 2.6 BILLION NAIRA FOR EQUIPMENTS IN FCT

Worried by the recent spate of security challenges bedeviling the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Federal Executive Council (FEC), has approved for the purchase of Security equipments and operational vehicles for Security Agencies in the nation’s Capital, Abuja.

The gadgets and vehicles, when procured are expected to aide the work of the various security organisations in the territory and boost their functions of securing lives and property of residents.
Minister of FCT, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello, disclosed this while briefing Journalists after the Federal Executive Council meeting, Wednesday, in Abuja.

The Minister said the approval comprising of two contracts valued at N 2,682, 248,378.52K.

Mallam Bello noted that the first contract which is for the procurement of 60 units of Ford Ranger 4×4 wheel drive vehicles with security communication accessories including 3 years post sales service was awarded to Messrs Coscharis Motors Ltd at the sum of N1,835,108,613.95k.

According to him, the second contract which is for the purchase of various security gadgets and accessories to support security agencies in the FCT, was awarded to Messrs E&S Technology Ltd at the sum of N847,139,764.57.

Minister assured of continued support to security agencies and vowed that the Administration will do all within its powers to guarantee scrutiny of lives and property of all residents irrespective of where they reside.

While appealing to residents of the territory to support the FCT Administration and the security agencies in the fight against crime and criminality in the nation’s capital , the Minister urged residents to be security conscious and provides useful information to the relevant authorities that would assist in tackling the security challenges.

It will be recall that the FCT Administration recently revived the G – 7 security body, to assist in tackling the security problems within the state contiguous to the FCT.
