The Federal Capital Territory Administration is committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and will therefore, continue to provide the enabling environment for its realization from all facets.

The Administration will equally provide the needed atmosphere where things are done correctly to ensure improved socio-economic development in the FCT.

The Mandate Secretary, Social Development Secretariat, Ibrahim Aminu, gave this assurance at a workshop organized for Corps Members serving in the FCT on Career and Entrepreneurship Development, the FCT Youth Department and the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) in collaboration with Mind the Gap Community and Youth Development Foundation at the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Arts and Culture, Area 10, Garki I District, Abuja.

The Mandate Secretary, who was represented at the occasion by the Director, FCT Youth Department, Amb. Asabe Umar, said the programme is not only apt but very important in the lives and careers of the Corps Members and Youths generally as it involves mentoring them on entrepreneurship development for that empowerment and self sustenance purposes.

Aminu noted that if the youths are not provided with alternatives to government employment and other white collar jobs, they may be exposed to indulging in social vices that are capable of destroying them, having a negative effect on their lives and other residents of the FCT; thus, making nonsense of all the efforts the FCT Administration have put in place to curb restlessness, indolence and crimes in the Territory.

His words: “In Nigeria like the rest of the world, the onus of driving the economy and development of a Nation is vested in the youths, they are the spirit of today, the trustees of tomorrow and the hope of our future; through their creative talents and labour power, a nation makes giant strides in economic development and socio-political attainments.”

“This programme is geared towards ensuring that Corps members serving in the FCT are using their time and energy for productive ventures that will contribute to the development of the Federal Capital Territory,” he added.

The Mandate Secretary said that Entrepreneurship involves combining innovation, skills and vision to developing new products, services or ideas that meet market demand and create value for a targeted audience.

“As Corps members serving in the FCT, I encourage you to key into opportunities available in your various communities and make the best use of them,” he stressed.

Aminu lauded the Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, and the Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, for a conducive environment to continue to partner with critical stakeholders to mould, build and tailor the minds of Corpers in the FCT towards entrepreneurship attainment for self sufficient purposes.

Delivering her goodwill message, the SA to the Minister of State, FCT on Social Development, Mrs. Hellen Zamani, admonished the youths to be focused in life and be the decision makers of what, when, where and how they want to be in the future; urging them to take the entrepreneurship programme seriously.

Zamani commend the FCT Administration for going into collaboration to organize such timely event for the youths and for creating the platform for more programmes for youth development in the FCT.

At the end of the two-Days workshop, participants are expected to have received sufficient trainings focused on enhancing employability and fostering entrepreneurship.
