No fewer than 40,000 direct jobs will be created on completion of the Free Trade Idu Industrial Park.
FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, made this disclosure, Monday, during inspection tour of the sprawling multi-faceted park in the Idu Industrial Layout.
The Minister restated that the Park is going to create not less than forty thousand direct jobs and that is huge.
His words: “There is no government that will not support this kind of investment, and having gone round, we can attest to the fact that this is what we really need to grow our economy.”
“We will not hesitate to make that approval, which has been made for finalizing the cost. You don’t need to be told, having seen what is going on, what will happen in the next three-four years….and they have assured us that if that approval is given, in eight to nine months, they would have completely completed the construction, and then all of this area will be opened,” he added.
Assuring that payment would not be a hindrance, the Minister revealed: “I have directed the Executive Secretary, FCDA to make sure that everything is put in place to fast-track the approval coming out from the Federal Ministry of Finance, so that the company can start construction of the other lane so that every body will benefit.”
Wike stressed that evey government was interested in creating employment; stating, “If they can create not less than 40,000 jobs, you know what it means -it reduces the burden, it reduces the rate of unemployment”.
The Minister said that this development will grow the economy; stressing, “They are producing one product which will be exported. Nigeria has raw materials but has not been able to harness it, and they are doing that.”
“You can imagine how the whole of Idu will be developed. This is what every government craves for, and we must give them the necessary support”, Wike emphasized.
The Minister, therefore, commended the high quality of products from the company, as well as the company itself, for inscribing “made in Nigeria” on the products.
Abuja Digest reports that the Park, which is being developed by Zeberced Group, already produces roofing sheets, manholes, staircases, electric meters and plastic pipes, among several others.
Managing Director of the company, Adil Aydin Kurt, while conducting the Minister around the Park, revealed that the facility encompasses, among others, 208 work shops, 200 factories, which would support small scale industries.
Abuja Digest further reports that the Park, which sits on an expansive 2,440,000 square meter is planned with a 100 megawatts independent power generation facility.
