ABU UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS MATRICULATE AT FCT COE

In a ceremony rich with academic tradition and institutional pride, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Undergraduate Students affiliated with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) College of Education, Zuba, were formally admitted into the university community on Wednesday, 11th February 2026.
Representing the Provost, Dr. Sule Mundi, the Deputy Provost (Administration), Dr. Gbemisola Olotu, congratulated the matriculating students for being found worthy of admission into the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University.
She noted that admission into the programme was highly competitive, revealing that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) approved only 108 candidates for the 2025/2026 academic session.
“As at the time we closed our portal, JAMB approved the admission of only 108 applicants. Therefore, those of you matriculating today should consider yourselves fortunate and make good use of this rare opportunity,” she stated.
Dr. Olotu charged the students to justify the opportunity through hard work, discipline, and unwavering dedication to their academic pursuits. She emphasized the synergy between diligence and moral uprightness, stressing that success is achieved through a combination of commitment to studies and Godliness.
She further reminded the students that although they are Ahmadu Bello University students, the FCT College of Education, Zuba, houses their programmes, and they are expected to strictly abide by the institution’s rules and regulations.
Reiterating the college’s stance on discipline, Dr. Olotu emphasized the institution’s zero tolerance for social vices, including cultism, examination malpractice, hooliganism, thuggery, prostitution, and other acts inconsistent with societal norms. She warned that any student found culpable would face appropriate sanctions.
“As ambassadors of your families and representatives of this institution, you are expected to live responsibly and adhere strictly to the Matriculation Oath you have signed,” she added.
Assuring the students of the college’s support, she highlighted the availability of qualified lecturers, a well-equipped library, and an e-library designed to provide access to global academic resources.
Dr. Olotu also expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University for the sustained partnership between ABU and the FCT College of Education, Zuba, describing the relationship as cordial and productive over the past six years. She appealed for more proactive measures in the mobilisation of students for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Representing the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Education, described ABU, Zaria, as an institution renowned for its diversity, academic excellence, and rich heritage.
He encouraged the newly admitted students to take full advantage of the opportunities available to them and remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies.
On behalf of the university management, Prof. Ahmed congratulated the students on their successful admission into the university community and expressed optimism that they would complete their programmes with distinction.
The ceremony was attended by principal officers and key management staff of the college.
