The Director, FCT Education Resource Centre (ERC), Dr.  Neemat Daud Abdulrahim, has embarked on an extensive monitoring tour of Senior Secondary Schools across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following the commencement of the FCT Mock SSC Examinations.

The monitoring exercise, according to the Director, is aimed at ensuring total compliance with the standards and guidelines already set by the ERC for the conduct of examinations in all FCT Schools. She explained that the mock examinations are designed to adequately prepare students for the forthcoming external examinations and to assess their level of readiness.

Dr. Abdulrahim described her assessment of the exercise as very impressive, particularly noting that the examinations commenced on schedule in the schools visited. She observed that the sitting arrangements were well organised, creating a conducive and examination-friendly environment.

She further remarked that the calmness, discipline, and seriousness displayed by the students show that they are genuinely looking forward to the examinations.

The Director stated that the monitoring process forms part of the Centre’s mandate to ensure uniformity and standardization across the Territory, particularly to confirm that the question papers and answer sheets are consistent in all schools.

She added that reports from other monitoring teams deployed across the FCT revealed that the examinations are being conducted smoothly and in line with established standards.

She further explained that the FCT Mock Examinations serve as a practical guide to what students should expect in external examinations such as the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), National Examinations Council (NECO), and National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB). She noted with satisfaction that in some of the schools visited, the mock examinations were being written in the newly renovated school halls, providing a more conducive learning and examination environment.

Dr. Abdulrahim commended the FCT Administration, led by the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike, CON, for its support and commitment to the Education Sector. She assured that the Education Resource Centre under the Education Secretariat remains committed to ensuring that the examinations in schools remain standardized and the promotion of academic excellence across the FCT is not compromised.

In his remarks, the Director/Principal of Model Secondary School, Maitama, Mr. Ogwo Godwin, stated that students had been adequately prepared through necessary tutorials and revision exercises and are fully set for the examinations.

Schools visited during the monitoring tour included Government Secondary School, Wuse Zone 3; Government Secondary School, Wuye; Government Secondary School, Tudun Wada, Wuse Zone 4; Government Secondary School, Wuse 2, and Model Secondary School, Maitama, among others.
