To complement government’s efforts in improving the standard of education and increase literacy levels among the residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nazareth Anglican Church has established a new ‘free tuition school’ in Tunga-Maje, suburb of Abuja.

The establishment of the school was borne out of the church’s unwavering commitment to providing quality education to those without means and cannot afford tuition fees.

It is also aimed at promoting literacy among the residents.

Speaking during the dedication ceremony in Tunga-Maje, the Lord Bishop of Gwagwalada Diocese, Rtd. Rev. Moses Bukpe Tabwaye, said the church is committed to creating opportunities for families struggling with financial challenges.

He described the establishment of the school as a “game-changer” for the FCT, offering free access to quality education for children from low-income households.

His words: “The aim of this school, is to serve the community, uplift its children and ultimately improve the socio-economic lives of the communities within the FCT and beyond. The establishment of Nazareth Anglican School is poised to be a ‘game-changer’ for FCT. It offers the promise of quality education for children from families who are not financially buoyant and are unable to afford the cost of schooling.”

“This is a significant initiative, as many families in the area, faced with financial challenges which have deterred their children’s access to quality education can have full access to quality education. Thus, by removing the financial barrier, the church has opened a path for these children to receive the kind of education that can break the cycle of poverty and empower them to reach their full potential,” he added .

Tabwaye emphasized that Nazareth Anglican School is going to help nurture the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and professionals who might have been deprived of learning opportunities due to financial constraints; stressing that equal opportunity to access quality education will now be given to them to build themselves and to strive for excellence.

He further emphasized that the school is open to children of all religious backgrounds, including Christians and Muslims; ensuring inclusivity and equal opportunities for everyone in the FCT and beyond.

Also speaking at the occasion, a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Justice Helen Moronikeji Ogunwumiju, said that the role of quality education, which he stated helps in shaping better futures for the young and vulnerable in society.

Ogunwumiju, who commended the church for establishing a school that will support the effort of the government toward developing qualitative education in the FCT, expressed the need to promote and appreciate the selfless initiative brought by the Nazareth Anglican church.

Abuja Digest reports that the Nazareth Anglican School, a symbol of hope and opportunity, is set to address the educational needs of underserved communities while fostering socio-economic growth in the FCT.
