FCTA Develops Entrepreneurship Skills For Secondary Schools

To ensure that students/pupils in the FCT schools obtain entrepreneural skills to make them employed, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is working on an entrepreneural blueprint for the teachers and students.
The Federal Capital Territory Administration is working on this practical knowledge in collaboration with Brunel Business School, Brunel University, London, to cover theteachers and students of Secondary Schools across the six Area Councils of Federal Capital Territory.
Accordingly, the effort is aimed at bringing together the Principals and Educators across the nation’s capital to build and develop their skills for driving entrepreneurship education and innovative notion among the FCT students.
The Director/Secretary, FCT Secondary Education Board (SEB), Dr. Sani Mohammed Ladan, revealed this while addressing the stakeholders during the count down of ‘Day One Training Workshop’ for the launch of ‘Innovation Challenge’ at the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Digital Resource Centre in Abuja.
TheDirector said the Board of the Education Secretariat is building a foundation for effective education by equipping Teachers with the skills needed to nurture Students who will drive positive change in the economic sector of country.
Ladan, who added that ‘Brunel – FCT Innovation Challenge’ will assist the FCT Administration to empower the children to become self-employed even after graduating from their schools, encouraged the Teachers and the Students to embrace the opportunity, to develop their entrepreneurial skills.
In his presentation, the Dean of Brunel Business School, United Kingdom (UK), Professor Ashley Braganza, highlighted the importance of addressing Nigeria’s unique challenges, which he enumerated as: Climate Change, Pollution, and Food Security.
His words: “Our collaboration with the FCT-SEB and Department of Science and Technology, Innovation (DSTI) is focused on equipping educators and students with tools to address issues such as Climate Change, Pollution, and Food Security by fostering an entrepreneurial mindset. The ‘Brunel-FCT Innovation Challenge’ enables students to think critically and innovate solutions for their communities.”
