FCTA Engages JICA On How To Boost Education In FCT

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) today engaged the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), as a development partner, to strengthen the collaborative efforts on how best to boost education in the Federal Capital Territory.

Accordingly, it is a significant step towards enhancing the Education sector in the Territory, to further improve teaching and learning in and around the 8,000 square kilometers of the Territory.

The FCT Education Secretary, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, who visited the JICA office said that streamlining and strengthening the partnership will go a long way to upscale the quality of educational system.

Speaking further, Hayyo explained that, his team were in JICA office to appreciate the Agency for its support over the years through their various interventions in the area of capacity building and provision of infrastructure and to explore further opportunities for collaborations and support in advancing educational initiatives within the FCT.

He expressed his commitment to fostering a strong partnership with JICA to address key challenges and elevate the quality of Education in the FCT.

The Secretary noted that Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA is known for its global commitment to sustainable development and has shown keen interest in contributing to the Education sector.

He unveiled potential areas of cooperation which include
infrastructure development, teacher training programmes, and educational technology integration.

The Secretary emphasized the importance of international partnerships in achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present Administration’s educational goals; adding that “Collaboration with organizations like JICA is crucial to harnessing global expertise and resources for the benefits of our education system.”

This collaboration, he noted will create lasting impacts on the lives of students and educators.

Responding, JICA Chief Representative, Mr. Yuzuwo Susumi
affirmed their dedication to supporting the Education Sector among others and lauded the proactive approach taken by the Secretary for Education, in seeking collaborations.
