FCTA To Work Towards Upgrade Of Educational Standard

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), will assiduously work to upscale the standard of education in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The Acting Executive Chairman, FCT Universal Basic Education Board (FCT-UBEB), Dr. Alhassan Sule, made this pledge, while declaring open the Third Phase of a 3-Day Master Trainers Workshop for selected FCT UBEB Quality Assurance Officers in Abuja.

The Chairman said that the Board will do everything possible to upgrade and maintain the standard of education in the Trrritory.

Sule, therefore, enjoined Quality Assurance Officers to sit up and discharge their duties with utmost responsibility so that Standard will be upgraded and maintained in the Basic Education System.

He said that the Federal Government through the Universal Basic Education Commission, (UBEC) has expended a whole lot in capacity strengthening of personnel in the Basic Education to achieve this goal.

The Chairman added that the Officers will be trained to train others to ensure that this goal is achievable in consonance with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He, thus, urged the participants to focus their minds on the content and context of the programme so that the aims and objectives will be achieved.

Sule described the theme of the Workshop: “Building the capacity of Master Trainers for effective Quality Assurance practices at the State and LGEA levels” as apt and timely.

The Chairman said the Workshop was organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration with the Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT-UBEB).

In his welcome address at the event, Dr. Emmanuel Shuaibu, Director Quality Assurance in the Board reeled out the objectives of the Workshop as: To strengthen the capacity of Master trainers for effective Quality Assurance; To promote professionalism of the Quality Assurance practices and procedures at the state level and to build a community of practice for effective monitoring and evaluation of schools.

He affirmed that many things have been done internally to enhance the skills and expertise of the Officers so that they will be at top gear in the performance of their duties.

Shuaibu underscored the importance of good report writing as an essential tool that improve the professional sagacity of the Officers.

He thanked the management of the Board for its support.

Also speaking at the occasion, a Director UBEC, in charge of FCT, Mrs. Helen Ego Okoro, noted that the training was a unique one where partipants will be Master trainers for the entire FCT.

She told the participants that their knowledge base will be expounded on things they already know and by the coming year, UBEC technical officers will be coming to monitor to know how they are utilizing the skills garnered so far.
