Retired Principals Vow To Continue Educating Students

The Association of Retired Principals of Secondary Schools of Nigeria (ASORPSSON), FCT Chapter, has vowed to continue to educate and transform the students and other residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as a token to give back to the society.
The pledge is aimed at imparting the lives of the students and the FCT residents by ensuring life transformation in contemporary society.
President of the Association, Dr. Ticha Chidozie Ifejiofo, made this pledge during the Annual End of the Year Get-Together of the Association, FCT Chapter, at Zone 7, Wuse District, Abuja.
Ifejiofo said that the programme is an annual occasion bringing together all retired Principal of Secondary Schools across the six Area Councils of the FCT, which provides opportunity to socialize, interact and feast together, while still imparting on the younger generation.
He charged the retired Principals to keep their profession active even after retirement; adding that the teaching profession does not die off when a teacher still lives, rather, they continue to impart knowledge throughout their lifetime.
Also, speaking at the event, the Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Adamu Jatau, stated that the event is equally designed to enlighten the retired Principals of all Secondary Schools in the FCT on how to take care of themselves physically, mentally and emotionally, as well as open their eyes on how to live healthy and peaceful lives after retirement.
Jatau, charged the Retirees to always adhere to health tips that are always provided for the aged persons in order to ensure a peaceful and good living standard at the retirement.
In her lecture at the occasion, a Life and Health Coach, Dr. Ramatu Daroda, who spoke basically on nutrition and mental health care, emphatically advised that it was necessary for the aged persons to embrace self care, particularly in what they eat and what they do.
Daroda, who disclosed that research has proven that 80% of good health status is constituted by what people eat and 20% constituted by their activities, advised the Retirees to always imbibe the habit of eating fibre rich foods, consume diverse foods for balance diet, embrace lots of exercise and daily walks, and avoid processed, salty and surgery foods.
Speaking on Mental care, Dr. Daroda, advised the Retirees to always socialize with people, avoid things that are beyond their purchasing power, ensure peaceful co-existence with family, and encourage their grown-up children to shoulder their own responsibilities.
As part of motivation to the students across FCT, the ASORPSSON presented some writing materials, such as exercise books, mathematical sets and others, to some students who were selected based on their outstanding performances in their various schools.
