AEA trains youths on carpentry and furniture making

As part of the Federal Capital Territory’s Administration’s (FCTA) efforts and commitment towards empowering and building the capacities of youth in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Honourable Minister, FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has approved and sponsored the Carpentry and Furniture Making Training programme.

The programme which was initiated by the Abuja Enterprise Agency with the aim of producing competent hands with knowledge and practical skills for a successful carpentry career was organized in conjunction with Dazzle Carpentry Training Limited.

The three (3) month training programme which commenced on 12th November, 2018 currently has a total of 28 youths (inclusive of 2 females) most of whom are graduates and residents of the FCT as  participants.

According to Mr. Oji, a key official, the participants who have shown tremendous passion and commitment since the commencement of the training have been taught skills ranging from Technical Drawing, Wood Work, Framing, Drilling, Sawing, Designing, Trimming and Modelling. He also stated that apart from carpentry skills,

the participants have also been taught on other related skills like painting and panelling.

The Managing Director, Abuja Enterprise Agency, (AEA) Muhammed Tukur Arabi, while addressing the participants, congratulated them for being selected as beneficiaries of the training programme at no cost. Mr Arabi who was represented by the Manager, Enterprise Development Services, AEA, Mr. Bolaji Asuni informed the participants that a training programme of that magnitude is in line with the FCT Administration’s desire towards supporting and enhancing the capacity of budding entrepreneurs in the FCT.

 He urged the participants to take the training very seriously and not relent on the commitment currently exhibited by them. He assured the participants that efforts are currently on ground by the Agency to provide adequate post training services aside the offer of three (3) months free mentorship made by Dazzle Carpentry Training Limited after the completion of the training programme.

The participants on the other hand, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Minister for the rare opportunity provided to them on a platter of gold, and for his foresight towards youth development in the FCT. They also commended Abuja Enterprise Agency for initiating and driving laudable programmes and activities towards emancipating youths in the FCT from unemployment and social vices.
