FCTA Staff To Get Free Eye Services, Glasses

In commemoration of the 2023 World Sight Day, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has concluded plans to offer free eye medical checks-up to its staff through the Health and Environmental Services Secretariat (HESS).

The Acting Director, Public Health Department, Dr. Doris John, made this known in an interview with Abuja Digest in Abuja, Friday.

The Director said the FCT Administration has considered it better to commemorate World Sight Day by rendering free medical Services to the staff for efficient productivity in the service.

Dr. John revealed that the Public Health Department will be available on Tuesday at the Health and Environmental Services Secretariat’s Parking Lot at Area 11, FCTA Secretariat, Abuja.

Speaking further, the Director disclosed that the services to be rendered will include, Free eye checks-up, screening, diagnosis, and treatment.

Dr. John said the eye experts will be available at the venue to offer their professional services to the staff of the FCTA to ensure an increase in staff productivity.

Programme Manager, Eye Care Unit, Public Health Department, Dr. Garba Abdulrazaq revealed that besides the free eyecare screening, staff will get free eyeglasses if necessary after thorough checks from ophthalmologists on site.

He said that the glasses had been donated through the office of the Secretary, Health and Environmental Services Secretariat (HESS).

Abdulrazaq stated that the theme for World Sight Day 2023 is “Love your eyes at work” which is focused on ensuring that workers prioritize their eye health by checking their eyes regularly.

World Sight Day is commemorated annually on the 12th of October 2023 and for this year, world leaders are calling on employers to provide quality eye care to their employees.
