According to her, oxygen is essential medicine for use to care for patients at all levels including surgery, trauma, heart attack, asthma, pneumonia, maternal and child care.
Fasawe reiterated that investment in this area of medicine is a must to minimize loss of lives of patients from various ailments.
The Secretary emphasized that the Renewed Hope Agenda of this government is real; stressing that the residents of the Territory should expect more.
The Secretary, who also commissioned a Medical Out Patient Department (MOPD) and a Library Unit in Wuse District Hospital, said that the FCT Administration being led by Barrister Nyesom Wike is poised to impact positively on all the 14 District Hospitals as well as Primary Healthcare facilities in the Federal Capital Territory.
Her words: “The FCT Administration will do everything possible for all residents of the Territory to access quality health services, because staff capacity building and infrastructure will remain a priority.”
Fasawe said that the FCT Administration under the leadership of Barrister Nyesom Wike is making tremendous efforts which is evident in the renovation of Call Rooms in some of the hospitals.
She restated the commitment of the FCT Administration to reduce Maternal and Infant Mortality in the Territory and thus, directed FCT Health Insurance Scheme (FHIS) to enroll all pregnant women who have registered for Antenatal in any FCTA Health facility for free.
The free enrollment of pregnant women into FHIS will run through the year 2024 because enrolling into a Health Insurance Scheme will subsidize the cost of accessing health care services and ensure that emergencies are handled promptly to avoid complications for pregnant women, the Secretary said.
Fasawe revealed that the Health Sector in FCT will experience some reforms that will improve Health Care Services; adding that plans were underway to introduce solar powering system in hospitals to address the cost of running generators and reduce burning fossil fuels, which is harmful to our environment.
