The Mandate Secretary Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, has commended the Ministers’ Wives Forum for renovating key facilities at Zuba General Hospital as part of the Forum’s pet projects.
Dr. Fasawe gave the commendation during the commissioning of the renovated Medical Director’s office, toilets, and operating theatre at the hospital on March 10, 2026. She described the intervention as a laudable initiative that would further improve healthcare delivery in the community.
She also encouraged residents of Zuba to continue patronizing government health facilities, rather than private ones noting that such support would strengthen the healthcare system.
The Mandate Secretary later took members of the Ministers’ Wives Forum on a tour of the hospital, including the children’s ward, to acquaint them with the facility and its services.
Speaking earlier at the event, the Vice President of the Ministers’ Wives Forum, Mrs. Azizat Kemi Alausa, expressed appreciation to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, for the confidence reposed in their husbands through the portfolios assigned to them, as well as the support they continue to give in the discharge of their duties.
She also appreciated the Mandate Secretary for encouraging them to renovate the hospital facilities instead of their usual practice of distributing gifts to people. She encouraged residents to live in unity, citing the ongoing fasting period observed by both Christians and Muslims as a divine plan.
She further thanked the Zuba community for their cooperation and assured them that the Forum would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of communities whenever the need arises.
In his remarks, the traditional ruler of Zuba Emirate, HRH Muhammad Saliu, thanked the Forum for choosing Zuba General Hospital as one of its pet projects.
He, however, appealed to the team to also consider establishing more Primary Health Centres within the Zuba community, noting that they serve as the primary source of healthcare for many residents.
The traditional ruler also appealed to the Forum to absorb casual workers who have been serving for a long time into full-time employment under the FCT Administration.
Items donated during the event included food items, bedsheets, blankets, and other essential supplies for residents, patients, and the hospital.
A female patient, Mrs. Zainab Yakuku, also appreciated the Ministers’ Wives Forum for their thoughtfulness in giving the health facility a facelift.
